Sciatica is a common problem for many people, identified by pain that starts in the lower back or buttocks, and travels down to one or both legs or feet. It will vary in terms of frequency, severity, and intensity.

The pain from sciatic condition can be severe, sharp, intense and debilitating. It may be associated with numbness, severe burning, shooting or tingling sensations. What most people fail to realize is that these are symptoms and indicates that something is wrong. My experience in treating this type of neurological condition for the past 25 years shows that causes in sciatica are misaligned vertebras in the spine in the majority of cases. The sciatic nerve starts in the lower back and extends into the lower leg. This is the reason why the pain can often be felt anywhere along this nerve route.

Chiropractic treatment helps relieve or alleviate pain and/or help the body fix the sciatica condition. Chiropractic treatment including adjustments will aim to realign the spine, taking the pressure off of the nerve and often bringing relief to the patient. Once the pressure is off the nerve roots the body can begin to heal itself. While adjustments are probably most often used, other treatments may be given, particularly if an adjustment may not be advisable. Treatments may include the use of some modalities such as ultrasound, TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) device, ice therapy or other modalities.

In some people with the sciatic condition, a chiropractor can help bring relief from agonizing and debilitating pain but several treatments may be needed, particularly if it has been occurring for some time. Chiropractic treatment of sciatica gives you a no invasive surgical and drugs free option. Exercises may likely be recommended in conjunction with your therapy to strengthen the muscles in the back to help prevent the sciatic condition from recurring.
