What to Expect

During Your Visit

Your acupuncture visit begins with a conversation about your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, and treatment goals. This allows us to better understand what may be contributing to your discomfort and how acupuncture may be used to support your care.

During treatment, very thin needles are gently placed at specific points on the body. Most patients feel little to no pain when the needles are inserted. Some feel a light pressure, warmth, tingling, or a deep sense of relaxation. After the needles are placed, you will rest comfortably while the treatment takes effect.

Your provider may recommend a series of visits depending on your condition, how long symptoms have been present, and how your body responds to care.

The Science

Behind Acupuncture

Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points on the body with very thin needles. This may help activate the nervous system, improve circulation, release muscle tension, and encourage the body’s natural pain-relieving response.

From a modern healthcare perspective, acupuncture may influence how the brain and body process pain signals. It can also help promote relaxation by calming the nervous system, which is why many patients use acupuncture for pain relief, stress support, headaches, muscle tension, and overall wellness.

At Shoar Chiropractic & Acupuncture, acupuncture can also complement chiropractic care, massage therapy, rehabilitation exercises, and other treatments by supporting better balance, mobility, recovery, and comfort.
